CATHEDRALS (2017)

Years and years of focused manual labor went into their construction and maintenance. Many of these impressive structures survived major wars and natural disasters. So much undying commitment to these timeless belief systems. The magnitude to which we have historically built and destroyed in the name of religion is staggering. But it's no different than the manifesting and deconstructing that we constantly seek on a personal level--relationships, careers, habits, emotions--based on stories we tell ourselves to feel safe. These cathedrals that we are all building for ourselves...they're a way to keep us in charge, because we think we understand how things work. But it's when those systems start to fail us that we become desperate...manic, even. My research is in that dark void of unknowing and fear.
